What is a Faraday Bag?
Faraday Bags block RF signals from both being sent and received to an electronic device such as a mobile phone, car key or laptop.
How does a Faraday Bag work?
Devices like smartphones connect to phone networks via wireless signals but also have other wireless connection capabilities like Bluetooth or Wireless Wi-Fi networks such as the 802.11b/g/n standard. Even with the standard security features on a smart device, they can still be susceptible to being threatened from an outside source to alter, delete or even add evidence to the phone or another device.
Faraday Bags much like the Faraday cage is an enclosed, sealed unit which prevents signals from being sent and received thanks to the material the bag is made from. This is important in cases of seized devices where the data contained in it is used as evidence in court as the faraday bag will ensure this has not been tampered with.
What are Faraday Bags made of?
Faraday bags can be made up of a wide range of materials but the most common are multiple layers of various metallic layers. For example, you can find copper, aluminum and static dissipative polyethene.
Are your products tested?
Yes, the products are MIL‐STD‐188‐125‐2 compliant, based on High-Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse Protection Testing compliance by Keystone Compliance
Will this damage my phone or affect my service?
No, Silent Pocket, Disklabs and Faraday Defense products do not damage wireless devices.
Your service is temporarily interrupted in a passive way and resumed in 10-20 seconds when the phone is taken out from inside the enclosed Faraday cage.
Why can't I just turn off my phone?
Smart phones are never really "off" because you cannot remove the power source. In many cases, phones may still be active even though they appear to be turned off. We view this more as "dormant" even though the phone seems to be off, it may still be able to remember and/or report your location.
Slipping your phone into a Silent Pocket® creates an electromagnetic barrier between the phone and the Cellular, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, RFID networks. You're completely off the grid anywhere anytime!
I need my phone alarm. Does that still work?
Yes, your phone’s alarm will not be silenced, and you'll still be able to use the functions of setting reminders on the internal time clock.
Please note the products are not soundproof, so if you choose to play downloaded music, set an internal alarm, or have reminders make sure you can still hear those.
What are the care instructions?
These products contain an internal Faraday Cage with Metal and Flammable Components. These products are not intended to be carried in a pants pocket and can wear down the cage quicker than normal. We highly recommend carrying our small products in hand or in a backpack, bag, etc.
Keep your products away from external heat sources. The external material is Weatherproof, but NOT all products are Waterproof. Sustained water exposure on sleeves can lead to corrosion or mold. If your products are dirty, use a small amount of water on a rag.
Will I be able to go through airport security?
Yes! The Faraday cage reads just like any other textile going through the X-ray machine and will not be flagged.
Can I charge my phone inside the phone sleeve or utility bag?
Unfortunately, you will not be able to charge your phone while it is inside the Phone Sleeve or Utility Bag due to the cord creating a space in the closure.
However, you would be able to charge your phone while inside our products if you had a portable charger that fully fit with your phone without leaving any spaces at the closure.
What happens when someone calls me?
Your phone rings through normally for the caller and takes them to voicemail. Once you remove your phone, you will receive any voicemails left, but will not see missed calls.
